Handmade
A snowstorm that doesn't want to stop. Rapidly melting icebergs. Ceaselessly whirling tornadoes. Three simulations of extreme weather conditions resulting from climate change are re-staged with food and household utensils in Handmade and their production recorded on video. Three times the rotating aquarium emerges out of the blackness of the projection screen to reveal a dramatic weather event in its interior. That busy hands occasionally appear reflected in the aquarium's glass walls refers seemingly incidentally to the central aesthetic question of construction. This is not about the production of conclusive effects. Even if the monotonous sound of the cordless screwdriver which is responsible for turning the aquarium, drowns out much of the usual sounds of experimental production it delivers a unique, psychedelic soundtrack, which prevents the interruption of the visibility of the handiwork that completely encloses the illusory space.
